Regardless of how much space you have (alley, balcony, back yard), you can grow your own vegetables.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced gardener, draw inspiration from our demonstration plant beds and cultivate your knowledge of urban farming. In the company of science guides, discover companion planting (plants that benefit from being grown side by side), learn to get along with any animals that might visit your garden and glean information about harvesting and the preservation of vegetable plants. As a family, take a close look at vegetables that are easy to grow in child-height planters and note the unusual edible plants hidden in the demonstration plots of the vegetable garden.
