Discover the fascinating story of the transformation of Montréal's former Olympic Velodrome into the Biodome, one of the city's most remarkable examples of architectural innovation and environmental leadership. Presented as part of the 50th anniversary of the Montréal Olympic Games, this exhibition invites visitors to explore a unique legacy where Olympic heritage, sustainable innovation and biodiversity come together.

An iconic transformation from sport to nature

What happens to an Olympic velodrome once the Games are over? How did a venue built for elite cycling become one of Canada's leading natural science museums?

Presented on Level 100 of the Biodome, this exhibition retraces the remarkable transformation of the Olympic Velodrome, built for the 1976 Montréal Olympic Games, into a living museum dedicated to the ecosystems of the Americas.

Through a restored scale model of the Biodome as it appeared when it opened in 1992, archival photographs and interpretive panels, discover the key stages of this extraordinary transformation and the engineering achievements that gave new life to one of Montréal's most iconic buildings.

Combining Olympic heritage, architecture, sustainable innovation and a commitment to biodiversity, this exhibition highlights an outstanding example of adaptive reuse and celebrates the Biodome's evolution over the past several decades.
