Conference : Seed in the North: The Case of the Ecoumene Gardens

7:00 - 8:30 p.m. | By Jean-François Lévêque de l'Écoumène. Some would say that you have to be crazy to become a seed grower in a northern environment. Cold climate, short growing season and merciless winters are all characteristics of Quebec agriculture. Yet, the Quebec seed community is constantly growing stronger in order to offer a diversified range of high quality seeds. With 20 years of experience as an organic seed producer in zone 3B (Saint-Damien, Lanaudière), Jean-François Lévêque takes you behind the scenes of seed production at Les Jardins de l'écoumène, in their quest to produce seeds that are vigorous and adapted to our climate.
